Clara's 1st Birthday & Surprise!

It's been way too long since I have posted, and things are piling up. I have my excuses for being so bad at blogging, but that will come later. First off, our little baby girl turned 1 on Friday, September 3rd, and we had a little birthday celebration for her on Saturday the 4th. She loved every minute of it, and you have never seen a more excited 1 year old. She was giddy when we put her presents in front of her, she laughed and squealed at each one of them. Her and her little friend Trevor splashed around in a little pool for a bit, we had some yummy BBQ food, then Clara dove into her smash cake. She was slow at first, and then when she realized how good it was, and that she was actually allowed to eat it, she went right to business making a big mess!
Our dessert...strawberry ice cream-brownie cupcakes!

The big surprise for our families came when we had my mother-in-law help Clara open a present from us. It was a card from baby #2 wishing Clara a happy birthday! Everyone was very surprised and excited. I am due April 16th, and feeling EXTREMELY nauseous. It's actually not as bad as the first time, but it's still pretty miserable. Just a constant icky feeling and more than occasionally throwing up, yuck!

Since I haven't posted in so long I will also include our recent trip to the Zoo, with Uncle Taylor, Blaine & Bethany Franger and there cute little baby Ellary, and Jeannine stopped by to hang out for a little bit. Jeannine has a season pass, and the rest of us had guest passes from other season pass holders. It was a fun day, nice cloudy weather, and lots of interesting animals for Clara to point at.

Hippo bottoms... A little present from Jeannine...
Lastly, we had Clara's 12 month check up this past week. She weighs 18lbs 7oz., and is 2'4.72" tall. She is a little peanut, only in 10% for weight and 35% for height. She eats like crazy so I don't know where it all goes! She just cut two little top teeth, one came in slightly before the other and she was a little snaggle tooth for a while. She is not quite walking on her own, she still prefers assistance, but I'm pretty sure that will be very soon. It's been a great year with Clara, so many changes and milestones, and now in this next year she will become a big sister, how exciting!
