My Dad...

February 27th my dad passed away after a 16 year battle with cancer. He has been the most incredible fighter that ever existed, and it is crazy that it all happened so fast. He has been hospitalized recently with a lung infection and fluid building up in his lungs. Yesterday, the fluid had completely filled his lungs and he was having a really hard time breathing. He was walking around a little bit early yesterday morning until he was finally convinced that he needed to lay down and rest. Only a couple hours later we could no longer wake him up. His breathing continued to be labored and around 9:45 pm we called our pastor Charlie to come over and pray with us. He showed up at 10:00 and walked back to the room. His first response was that we should sing, and he began to sing "Amazing Grace," we all sang with him, and as we sang my dad blinked a couple times and it seemed like he was looking around. Charlie began to pray but before he could finish my dad tried to sit up, took a last breath, and passed away at 10:05 pm. It was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced and I know God's hand was upon him. He was surrounded by family and comfortable at home. He had been holding on and fighting for so long and it was as if he needed to hear that song and prayer to be ready to let go. Of course we miss him like crazy, and are mourning the loss of our wonderful father. It is going to be a hard road for us, especially my mom, but I am beyond grateful that he is no longer suffering and is in a better place! We are so thankful for our wonderful family and friends who are so supportive and willing to help in this time. Thank you!

Rice Cereal

A couple of days ago we gave Clara her first Rice Cereal meal. She was a little skeptical at first, but she ended up loving it! This has definitely become a part of our nightly ritual, and it is so cute to watch her try to eat. I'm pretty sure more of it spills out of her mouth than actually goes down, but she is learning. I'm sure she will get the hang of it soon!

Broken Leg

The cast goes all the way up to his hip :(
This past week Jordan was supposed to be up in Mammoth snowboarding with a group of guys from his work. However, on his very first day of snowboarding he overshot a very large jump, and landed hard on flat ground, resulting in a broken leg. My first reaction when he called was, "your not supposed to get injured on the first day!" My next reaction after we went to orthopedics and they said it is going to be long road of recovery, was a little mad and irritated. As of now, if only the bone is broken (the tibial plateau), we are looking at 6-8 weeks in a cast, however, if ligaments are also damaged, then after the 6-8 weeks we are looking at surgery. The doctors are pretty confident that the ligaments are intact, and therefore he could be back at work in around 4-6 months. Initially I was pretty peeved, thinking, now I have two babies to take care of, and thinking how lame of a reason to have a broken bone! But we have talked it over, and have decided we are going to make the best of the situation, we can't change the circumstances that we are in, but we can change our reaction to them. So, everything is going to be okay. Jordan is now looking at going on light duty at work, and will be receiving pay for the extent of his time injured. Lately, he has been gone ALL THE TIME, working like crazy, but now he will be home a lot more, so that is definitely a bright side. Circumstances change so quickly and you just have to take things as they come!

Outside getting some fresh air.

5 Months Old!

Clara is five months old today! I have no idea how much she weighs or how tall she is, all I know is that she is stinkin' cute! Just recently she has begun sitting up on her own very well. I have a feeling she is going to skip crawling, and just start scooting every where on her bum, because she hates tummy time. Every time she rolls over on her stomach, which is almost every time you lay her on her back, she gets pretty frustrated, pretty quickly.

In this next month we will probably try to introduce rice cereal, I can't believe she is already ready for that! I feel like I have the baby stage down pat, but now she is moving out of that mode, and boy do I feel like I have a lot to learn!
